Statistics show that 9,000 out of 70,000 babies born in Lebanon each year require special care. The Neonate Fund, a charitable initiative that supports at risk newborns, was launched in 2011. It was established by Mona Al Khatib, Maya Ghandour, Rada Lozi Sawwaf, Hala Dahdah Abou-Jaber and Marwa Jaber who are dedicated to assisting other families to ensure that all newborns get the medical care they need – regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. The Neonate Fund will benefit families whose children are being cared for at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at AUBMC, a newly expanded and renovated state-of-the-art facility staffed with skilled and highly trained health care providers.
